Welcome to the online book discussion for the Elisabeth Elliot's classic account of the love story the Lord wrote for her life. In her book, Passion and Purity, she walks readers down the path she took in learning to trust the Lord first and foremost in her life. She emphasizes the need to commit daily to Christ all matters of the heart and to wait upon Him. Grab a copy of this book, read along, and join in the discussion as we all learn from the example of a faithful couple surrendered to the Spirit's leadership and Father's plan.

Welcome!

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the new book club blog for Pursue Passion and Purity. We are a group of girls who have decided to walk together through a classic book by Elisabeth Elliot, Passion and Purity. Elisabeth was married to Jim Elliot, a faithfully devoted minister of the Gospel to the indigenous tribes of Ecuador during the early/mid twentieth century. This book contains personal accounts from her journal as well as Jim's, and has an encouraging and challenging message for anyone desiring to honor Christ in their lives, particularly in the area of love or romance.

Membership in the book club is completely open, and we invite you to follow the blog and join the reading and discussion. In order to be an official "follower," you will need to create a (free!) google account. Visit blogger.com to do so. This will allow you to make your own blog, but that won't be necessary for following the book club. Once you have created a google account, you will be able to follow the blog and leave comments.

So what's the game plan?

READING
The book has 43 short chapters, and we have decided to divide them up into a 7-week study. Each week we will read six chapters, and on one to-be-designated week, we'll read seven. With six chapters a week, you will be able to easily read a chapter a day and have an extra day for catching up. This pacing method will keep everyone near the same page.

DISCUSSION
Every Sunday, discussion questions or topics will be posted which pertain to the previous week's reading. The discussion leader for that week will throw out some themes that particularly interested or spoke to her. After the topics have been posted, members will be able to leave comments with their own thoughts or questions as we dialogue about what we are learning through the study.

When do we start?

The book study will begin in October, and the discussion questions for the first six chapters will be posted on October 10th. If you want to participate in the study, please be trying to get your hands on a copy of this book soon. It's available online as well as Christian bookstores, BAM, Barnes, Borders, etc. Totally worth your money, and I think you will enjoy having your own copy to be able to highlight and take notes in.

In the meantime, any updates concerning the study will be posted through this site. Feel free to check back from time to time. Also, if you have any questions concerning the study, please email hbjoin01@louisville.edu.

We hope to have you join us. This book has changed many of our lives and continues to be used by God to teach us the riches of laying our love lives (and lives in general) at the feet of our Lord, Jesus Christ. To Him be the honor and glory forever, amen!
